Packard Aircraft Engines
The number of exceptional books written about aircraft engines during the last century is few, probably less than 20. For two of these books to have come from the same author is truly remarkable, but this is indeed the case with Robert J. Neal’s works about the engines of Packard. These two volumes are large, extremely well researched, and full of pictures and illustrations. The inspiration for these books came when Mr. Neal viewed Gar Wood’s Miss America VIII at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Seattle. He was so impressed with the boat’s record under Packard power that he decided to further investigate the non-automotive applications of Packard engines.
