Care and
Maintenance of the 130 h.p. D.H. Gipsy Major Aero Engine
The 130 h.p. Gipsy Major traces its heritage back to 1927
when (Sir) Frank Halford designed the Gipsy I, an air-cooled four-cylinder
upright engine. The Gipsy II followed in 1929. The Gipsy III, introduced in
1931, was the first inverted model and led to the Gipsy Major.
The Gipsy Major was extensively used in de Havilland
Tiger Moths, Fox Moths, and Chipmunks.
